Tottenham are in firm contention to sign Manchester United star Dean Henderson to solve their goalkeeping issues.

Manchester United star Dean Henderson will look to find a way out of the club, with the goalkeeper open to a new challenge. According to Football Insider, Tottenham are in contention to sign the 26-year-old in the summer, with Hugo Lloris unlikely to remain in north London.

Manchester United are in the market for a new goalkeeper and are about to agree on a new deal with David de Gea. For quite some time, the Spaniard has been a thorn in the development of Dean Henderson, one of their other promising keepers.

Henderson got a brief opportunity to oust the Spaniard under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but was disappointed when the decision was reversed the following season. He has already opened up on his situation at Old Trafford just after sealing a loan deal with Nottingham Forest.

Henderson flourished at the City Ground under Steve Cooper. But a thigh injury has kept him out of the team since mid-January. With the season closing, the Manchester United star is already looking at the summer window and does not want to remain at Old Trafford.

He will open his doors for a new opportunity, with several clubs keeping tabs on his situation. He would reportedly like to stay in the Premier League and continue his career here. The ultimate ambition would revolve around regaining a spot in the England setup. But playing regularly is a must for the Manchester United star.

Despite the abundance of options, the Manchester United star would carefully study all proposals. While European football could come as a bonus, the 26-year-old would want assurance of a regular spot in the team.

Tottenham are one of the sides keen on the keeper. Spurs have a glaring need for a new stopper after losing faith in Hugo Lloris. The club would likely part ways with the veteran Frenchman in the summer, with Fraser Forster likely to remain as a deputy. The news of Henderson’s future decision will come as a bosst for Spurs in their pursuit of the 26-year-old.

Bringing Henderson would improve their quality between the sticks, which would be seen as a good move for all parties. Manchester United reportedly wanted £30 million for the keeper. But Tottenham will look to pay less. Spurs are also on the lookout for other options in the market.

Signing a player with Premier League experience will suit Tottenham largely than bringing someone from an outside league. For now, it is clear Henderson does not have a future at Manchester United, and it will suit the club to agree on a good deal for the keeper imminently.
