Chelsea confident of agreeing Mason Mount deal

Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

Mason Mount will be out of contract this summer, and he is yet to sign an extension with the Chelsea. A report from Football Insider claims that the Blues are now growing in confidence that the midfielder will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge and renew his contract with them.

Mount is one of the most talented young midfielders in the Premier League, and his decision to continue at Stamford Bridge will come as a massive boost for Chelsea. But it comes as a blow for suitors like Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Blues need players who will help create goalscoring opportunities and chip in with goals consistently. Mount has the potential to develop into a top-class player, and Chelsea cannot afford to lose him to a direct rival. Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to challenge Chelsea for major trophies in the coming years. So the Blues must look to keep hold of their talismanic playmaker.

Mount is a boyhood Chelsea fan who has been one of their best players in recent seasons. His departure would weaken Chelsea considerably. The Blues are hoping to compete for the league title next season. So they cannot afford to lose key players like Mount.

Furthermore, they might need to replace players like N’Golo Kante at the end of the season. So the new manager will not want the club to be in a position to replace multiple key players in one window.

Liverpool could definitely use a quality midfielder like Mason Mount. The Reds are lacking in creativity and goals from the midfield, and the Chelsea midfielder could make a big difference for them.

Similarly, Arsenal have been overly dependent on Martin Odegaard for creativity and goals from the midfield. The Norwegian international needs more support, and Mount would be a superb acquisition.

The England international is capable of slotting into multiple midfield roles and he could be a key performer for Arsenal and Liverpool in the coming seasons. The 24-year-old has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2024 and the Blues must look to secure a contract extension with him soon or they will be under pressure to cash in on him in the summer.
