Tottenham Hotspur looking to sign Lee Kang-In

Tottenham are keen on signing Lee Kang-in from Mallorca but faces competition from domestic and foreign rivals for the South Korean.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Lee Kang-in is a serious target for Tottenham in the summer. The north London side wants to bring the South Korean international to the club but faces competition from domestic and foreign rivals, including Atletico Madrid.

After an impressive season with Mallorca, Lee Kang-in has made a mark in La Liga. The attacking midfielder has fallen on the radar of many top clubs from Spain and the Premier League, as a summer move seems imminent for the South Korean international.

The report insists Atletico Madrid have been keeping tabs on the South Korean international since January and could finally make an offer. Mallorca knows the need to sell this player if the right offer arrives. They will accept a value much less than his €30 million release clause and remain open to part-exchange deals.

Atletico reportedly feels the South Korean international will fit in perfectly with their playing style and benefit the club commercially. One other club that has had a fantastic following from Asia are Tottenham Hotspur.

The north Londoners are keen on Lee Kang-in and could launch an offer to tempt Mallorca. Spurs will also look closely at the South Korean’s asking price but remain wary of the growing competition elsewhere. While there’s Atletico, Newcastle United are also keen on the attacking midfielder.

Tottenham lack a player of the South Korean’s profile, although the Mallorca star has primarily played on the left side of the attack. It’s a position similar to compatriot Son Heung-min, but Lee Kang-In is known for his positioning as a No.10.

He has the attributes to excel in that role, something Tottenham currently lacks. They are in the market for some options but may see the South Korean international’s price and make a move. They are also linked with Morgan Gibbs-White, who may seem very expensive compared to the Mallorca star.

Hence, the South Korean may become a solid option for Spurs, but they must swoop fast for the attacking midfielder. Things are expected to remain quiet for now. But the pursuit of Lee Kang-in could accelerate in the coming weeks, possibly right after the season ends.
