Arsenal and Newcastle United could offer around €60 million to sign Ferland Mendy, with Real Madrid open to a sale.
According to Fichajes, Ferland Mendy has tremendous interest from Premier League clubs, willing to pay big money. Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly ready to shell out €60 million to sign the Real Madrid star.
Ferland Mendy was a signing requested by Zinedine Zidane, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez obliging to the request. Since his transfer from Lyon, the French left-back has improved his game but has not contributed enough to the team’s attack.
During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has been revered for his defensive style. Additionally, the French left-back has endured plenty of niggling injuries, which has seen him feature far less than expected. Hence, Real Madrid are open to a sale if they can get the right price in the market.
The report insists Arsenal and Newcastle United are among the clubs open to paying €60 million for the left-back. The two clubs are intertwined in the market for a new player in the position, with a common factor between them in Kieran Tierney.
Tierney has seen his game time reduce due to the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko. He remains open to a new challenge if the situation does not change. While Arteta might want to keep the Scotland international, Newcastle United are showing interest in signing the left-back.
Signing Tierney from Arsenal is a big difficulty, as the two teams could go head-to-head next season for the same objectives. Hence, strengthening a domestic rival may not appeal to the Gunners’ chiefs. Either way, the Magpies will try for him but keep their options open in the market.
One of those is Mendy for Newcastle United. Paying a premium price for an injury-plagued player may not appeal to those in charge of the Magpies. Yet, the left-back’s tremendous experience and pedigree could convince the club to pay €60 million for the Real Madrid star.
Meanwhile, Arsenal signing the left-back will also depend on Tierney leaving. Arteta seeks a different option for that position, as Zinchenko may not play all the games. Additionally, their entry into next season’s Champions League will demand a certain level of players in the squad that elevate the overall quality.

Mendy certainly has it in him, but his wretched injury record will come in the way. Even Man City reportedly considered a move. But much will depend on how the fitness team evaluates the situation. It’s difficult to see Arsenal or Newcastle United paying up to €60 million for Mendy. They might look to pay less for the left-back, but the interest is certainly there in the Frenchman.
