Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are all interested in acquiring the services of 18-year-old Ivan Fresneda.
According to 90min, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United could all push for the signature of Ivan Fresneda in the summer. The 18-year-old full-back has done wonders in his very first season in the top flight, and there are a lot of clubs keen on having him in their ranks.
The Gunners were interested in the teenager back in the winter window. But, they have failed to strike a deal for the full-back. However, as per reports, their manager Mikel Arteta had a conversation with the Real Valladolid full-back with regards to a move. Even the player has praised the manager in the recent past which suggests that he could prefer joining Arsenal over any other club in the summer.
Fresneda said, “I like Arteta a lot because I think he’s a great coach; I follow the European leagues and I think the work he’s doing with his club is fantastic.”
Fresneda came through the ranks at Valladolid after joining them back in the summer of 2020. He was promoted to their first team ahead of the ongoing season. He has since featured in 20 matches for the first team racking up 1,556 minutes.
The teenager has produced some impressive performances which have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Representatives from Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United were present in the stands to watch Valladolid take on Valencia on Thursday. And, their major focus was the 18-year-old full-back.
Unai Emery is a big fan of the player and wants him at Aston Villa in the summer. Villa want to sign an attacking full-back in the summer. They want someone with huge potential and Fresneda seems to be a perfect fit.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also interested in adding some depth to their defence. They are looking to add a young right-back to their ranks. The club are pushing for a Champions League spot at this point in time and they are likely to achieve that objective.
The Magpies are looking to take the next step and push for important titles in the future. They want to add a new full-back and believe Fresneda could do wonders for them.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are all set to reignite their interest in the 18-year-old in the summer. While the existing full-backs have done a great job for Mikel Arteta, the Spanish manager wants to have a young, pacey and attacking right-sided full-back. They have been scouting Fresneda for a while now. And, they believe he could solve their headaches.
Valladolid would love to have the Spain Under-19 star in their ranks for a few more years. But, they are well aware of the interest in his services. There is a €30 million release clause in his existing contract which is likely to be triggered in the upcoming transfer window to felicitate his exit. All three clubs are well capable of triggering the release clause. As a result, it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the race for his signatures.
