Alvaro Odriozola reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid this summer, with Real Sociedad and Athletic Club keen on the 27-year-old.
According to Spanish journalist Jorge C Picon, Alvaro Odriozola has made a decision on his Real Madrid future. The 27-year-old defender is ready to depart from the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. And La Liga clubs Real Sociedad and Athletic Club are interested in him.
Alvaro Odriozola seemed to be Real Madrid’s long-term right-back solution when he arrived from Real Sociedad in July 2018. The Spaniard had already made his international debut for his national team. And pundits and fans alike believed he would be Dani Carvajal’s long-term successor.
But the 27-year-old has failed to make his mark at Real Madrid in the last half a decade. And he has barely featured for Los Blancos this season, managing only 87 minutes of game time thus far. Odriozola’s future seems to be away from Real Madrid, although he could remain in La Liga.
Jorge C Picon has claimed that the Spanish international defender is open to leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. And La Liga clubs Real Sociedad and Athletic Club are keen on signing him. Interestingly, both clubs also showed interest in the Real Madrid outcast last summer.
Odriozola’s decision to leave Real Madrid makes sense, considering the Merengues want to sign a right-back this summer. And the reigning La Liga champions have shown interest in several players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold. So the 27-year-old defender should depart from the Santiago Bernabeu to resurrect his career.
Settling down in the Basque country also makes sense, considering his previous experience with Real Sociedad. And rejoining La Real should serve him well if he rediscovers his best form. On the other hand, Athletic Club can also offer him regular game time in the 2023/24 season.
Real Madrid will have no qualms about parting ways with the 27-year-old defender. And his exit will help them recoup some money from his sale instead of waiting for him to become a free agent next year. It will be interesting to see which La Liga club lands the Spanish international.
