Chelsea are all set to hold talks with representatives of Andre Onana as they look to sign the Inter Milan shot-stopper ahead of next season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Chelsea want to sign Andre Onana ahead of next season. The Inter Milan goalkeeper has been doing great in the ongoing season and there are quite a few clubs keen on signing him. Meanwhile, the Blues are all set to hold a meeting in Milan for the 27-year-old shot-stopper.
Onana joined the Italian outfit ahead of the ongoing season. He started off at the Eto’o Academy and then joined La Masia at an early age. He came through the ranks at Barcelona and was a part of their Under-19 setup when Ajax decided to sign him.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a lot of success at the Dutch club. But, his progress was derailed after he was banned due to doping. Onana was considered a huge prospect for the future but the suspension did hit him hard. However, since joining Inter Milan, he has managed to revive himself.
The former Ajax keeper has featured in 33 matches in the ongoing season and has managed to keep 15 clean sheets. He is back at his best and there are quite a few clubs interested in his services. Inter Milan are well aware of the situation and they have already started to look for alternatives amidst strong interest from Chelsea.
The Blues want to sort out their goalkeeping situation ahead of next season. They do have Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in their ranks. While both of them have enjoyed a fair share of success at the club, the duo haven’t been that consistent of late.
The Blues want to sign someone who can be consistent throughout and help them revive themselves. Chelsea will be looking to offload one of their shot-stoppers in the summer as they look to sign the €40 million-rated shot-stopper.
They want to sort out the goalkeeping situation once and for all. And, signing Onana could surely help their cause. Milan acquired him ahead of the ongoing season on a free transfer and selling for a fee of around €40 million will surely be a great piece of business.
