Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of 22-year-old Barcelona defender Eric Garcia ahead of next season.

According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are keen on signing Eric Garcia. The 22-year-old defender has been on the radar of multiple clubs for a while now. But, it seems the Gunners are keen on bringing him to the club and are willing to make an offer in the summer.

Garcia started off at La Masia, the famous youth academy of Barcelona. He was considered a huge prospect for the future and Manchester City signed him back in the summer of 2017. He went through the ranks at City and made it to their first team.

The 22-year-old was highly rated by their manager Pep Guardiola. He made 35 first-team appearances for the English club before his contract ran out. He decided against renewing his terms at the Manchester-based club and returned back to his childhood club.

The Spain international has been a part of Barcelona’s first team since 2021. He has featured in 61 matches for the Catalan giants and is considered an important part of their squad. The 22-year-old has featured in 25 matches in the ongoing season and has been involved in 3 goals.

Garcia’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2026. While they consider him non-transferable, their financial situation will force them to offload a few players before they can sign any in the summer. As a result, they are willing to listen to offers.

Numerous clubs have shown interest in the 22-year-old, but, Arsenal are the only ones who are willing to push all the way for his services. Mikel Arteta wants to further bolster his squad ahead of next season. And, he would love to have the Spain international in his ranks.

Garcia is a versatile player who can feature as a centre-back as well as a full-back. And, he could surely add a lot of depth to the Gunners’ defence. His ability to read the game will benefit Arteta’s team who have been doing wonders in the ongoing season. And, the fact that he is still young and will get better with time, is a cherry on top.

However, it won’t be an easy task to land the Spanish defender. Arsenal will have to prise him away from Barcelona. As a result, it will be interesting to see where he ends up playing his football next season.
