Liverpool are all set to reignite their pursuit of 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham who is on the radar of Real Madrid.
According to Christian Falk via CaughtOffside, Liverpool are all set to return to the negotiating table for Jude Bellingham. The Merseyside club have been interested in the 19-year-old midfielder for a while now. But, they had dropped their interest in the Dortmund star because of the huge price tag. However, Falk believes they are all set to reignite their pursuit of the England international.
Falk said: “Slaven Stanic, a good friend of Jürgen Klopp’s, is now still working for the management of the Liverpool boss. And now he’s in talks to become the right-hand man of Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s sporting director, as sport coordinator.
And he knows, of course, about the big interest of Klopp in Bellingham and could be a middleman to bring both sides together. So it’s not off the table. And now there is hope in Liverpool that perhaps they could come back to the negotiating table again.
But Liverpool are out if anyone pays €150m earlier than the Reds. However, I think this personality can help. Jürgen Klopp is always saying ‘we have no chance, we have no chance’. Don’t believe him – he’s also still hoping.”
Bellingham is amongst the most sought-after players in world football. A lot of clubs are interested in the 19-year-old Dortmund star. The England international has featured in 39 matches for the German club in the ongoing season and has been involved in 18 goals.
The teenager has found the back of the net on 11 occasions and has seven assists to his name. Despite being just 19, Bellingham is considered to be one of the best midfielders going around. He has already led Dortmund on numerous occasions and seems destined for greatness.
While the English midfielder’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2025, he is expected to be on the move in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. However, he won’t be available for cheap, the 19-year-old will cost €150 million.
Liverpool were interested in signing him ahead of next season but the price tag resulted in them dropping their interest. But, according to Falk they are ready to return to the negotiating table and Slaven Stanic could be the middleman in their pursuit.
Stanic is currently working in the management of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. But, he is in talks to become the Sporting coordinator at Dortmund. If he does end up joining the German club, Stanic will become the right-hand man of Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s sporting director.
Stanic is well aware of Klopp’s interest in the 19-year-old as he looks to rebuild the Liverpool midfield that has looked clueless in the ongoing season. He could help Liverpool strike a deal for the England international. But, they will have to beat Real Madrid in the race.
According to Falk whichever club manages to put forward a €150 million bid earlier could win the race for Bellingham. And, given the financial power of Madrid, they could surely make the Merseyside club’s life difficult.
Los Blancos are keen on signing the 19-year-old. They believe he could complete their midfield and could succeed Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric who is in the twilight of his career.
Carlo Ancelotti and Florentino Pérez are both desperate to land the England international at the club ahead of next season. With Liverpool and Madrid both set to go all out for his services, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
