La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Danish right-back Alexander Bah from Benfica.
According to Danish outlet BT, as relayed by SPORT, Alexander Bah is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have scouted the 25-year-old full-back at Benfica. And he is one of several right-back candidates Barcelona might pursue in the summer transfer window.
Alexander Bah spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies of four Danish clubs. But he rose to prominence after leaving Denmark by joining Slavia Praha in January 2021. And the Danish full-back has gone from strength to strength since moving to Benfica last summer.
The 25-year-old has been a regular for the Portuguese giants, quickly establishing himself as the first-choice right-back. Bah has turned out 39 times thus far this season, chipping in with one goal and six assists. The player’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.
Barcelona will delve into the market for a right-back in the summer transfer window, with Joan Laporta suggesting the same. And that is hardly surprising, considering a centre-back is their first-choice right-back this season. So Xavi Hernandez is keen on adding a top-class right-back to his squad.
Several right-backs, including Noussair Mazraoui, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar. But according to BT, the Catalan giants have also been keeping tabs on Alexander Bah. The report claims that Xavi and the technical committee have the 25-year-old on their list. But the player will not come cheap, considering he joined Benfica last summer.
The Portuguese giants are notorious sellers, recently extracting a nine-figure sum from Enzo Fernandez’s sale. But the Danish full-back might be cheaper than other candidates like Joao Cancelo and Juan Foyth. However, Barcelona will likely consider many options before zeroing in on the final choice for the right-back berth.
For now, Bah has popped up on Barcelona’s radar over a move in the summer transfer window. And it will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old Danish full-back becomes the top target for the Blaugrana. What is clear is that Xavi will push Barcelona to sign a right-back this year.
