Alphonso Davies is reportedly frustrated at Bayern Munich and might consider joining Real Madrid in the coming months.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Alphonso Davies is considering leaving Bayern Munich. And the Canadian wide man, whose market value is €70 million, is not ruling out pushing for a move to Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing the youngster.
Alphonso Davies has been a revelation since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last four years, reinventing himself as a marauding left-back. And he has already won every trophy with the Bavarian giants.
The Canadian international has also enjoyed memorable moments with his national side, taking them to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, his market value has soared to €70 million in the last four years. Davies’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
Real Madrid might enter the market for a left-back this summer due to issues surrounding Ferland Mendy. The French international arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in July 2019 and immediately usurped Marcelo. But after a strong start to his Real Madrid stint, Mendy has stagnated, especially in the last two seasons.
Niggling fitness issues have not helped either, and the 27-year-old is currently on the sidelines. So Real Madrid might part ways with Mendy in the summer transfer window before bringing in a replacement. Several left-backs, including Davies, have thus emerged on Los Blancos’ radar.
While widespread reports suggested Real Madrid will pursue the 22-year-old in 2024, a move this year might be possible. That is because the Canadian international is frustrated at Bayern Munich after losing his berth as the first-choice left-back under Thomas Tuchel. And he might consider leaving the Bavarian giants in the coming months.
Davies is not ruling out pushing for a move to Real Madrid. But it is unclear how much Bayern Munich will demand to part ways with the youngster. However, Real Madrid should be open to shelling out around €70 million if the Bundesliga champions ask them to match his market value.
