Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing French international Mike Maignan, valued at €35 million by AC Milan.

Mike Maignan has been in supreme form for AC Milan this season, and Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to bring him to England next season. As per Fichajes, the player will cost €35 million this summer.

Maignan is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the two clubs. However, Arsenal already have a quality goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale, and it would be quite surprising if they decided to invest in another shot-stopper.

Maignan will probably look to join a club where he will be the first-choice goalkeeper, and he might not get that opportunity at Arsenal. A move to Tottenham would be more suitable for the French international if he leaves Milan.

Hugo Lloris is at the twilight stage of his career, and the 36-year-old has been quite underwhelming this season. Spurs will have to replace him adequately, and Maignan could be the ideal replacement for his compatriot.

The 27-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper could improve Tottenham immensely. But it remains to be seen whether the London club can convince Milan to sell the French international. He has helped AC Milan reach the semi-finals of the Champions League this season and he will be hoping to join a club capable of challenging for major trophies next season.

Tottenham must look to secure a top-four finish if they want to sign players of his quality. Arsenal are certainly a more attractive destination compared to Tottenham. But they will not be able to provide the €35 million-rated goalkeeper with guaranteed first-team action.

Ramsdale has established himself as a key player at the North London club, and he has helped them sustain a title challenge this season. It is highly unlikely that he will be replaced next season. Arsenal are better off investing in a backup option who will be cheaper and younger.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can finish the season strongly and secure Champions League qualification for the next season. Signing a top-class goalkeeper should be a priority for them, especially with the way Lloris has performed this season. The Frenchman has cost his side valuable points, and Tottenham cannot afford to head into a new season with him as their first-choice goalkeeper.
