Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all set to battle it out for the services of 20-year-old Celta Vigo ace Gabri Veiga.
According to a report by Oscar Mendez and Sergio Santos, Manchester City have entered the race for the services of Gabri Veiga. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been on fire in the ongoing season. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention of late, including from Liverpool and Tottenham.
The Celta Vigo midfielder has been on the radar of Liverpool and Tottenham for a while now. But, it seems Manchester City are desperate to lure him to the club in the summer. The Premier League champions have already informed the player’s entourage about their interest in his services.
Veiga has been a part of the Celta Vigo setup since his childhood days. He has gone up the ranks at the club and established himself as one of their most important players in the ongoing season. While he did bag a few appearances for their senior team earlier as well, the 20-year-old was promoted to the first team ahead of the ongoing campaign.
In his first full season with the senior team, the Spain Under-21 star has made 30 appearances and has 13 goal contributions. Veiga has found the back of the net on nine occasions and has four assists to his name.
His performances have attracted the attention of Pep Guardiola’s team. And Manchester City are all set to battle it out with Liverpool and Tottenham. Guardiola highly admires the 20-year-old and wants him at the club ahead of next season.
While Veiga’s contract at Celta Vigo runs until the summer of 2026, there is a €40 million release clause which is likely to be triggered by a club in the summer. Even the club’s president Carlos Mouriño has talked about the fact that he is expecting Veiga’s departure ahead of next season.
While Manchester City have sounded out the player’s entourage, they have also made it clear that the 20-year-old will have a relevant role in Guardiola’s setup. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also keen on having him in their ranks. The Merseyside club are eyeing a complete overhaul in the centre of the park. And, they have Veiga on their list of potential targets.
Jurgen Klopp wants young midfielders who have a creative edge and the Spain Under-21 star seems to fit the bill. Even Tottenham are keen on having his services, with the London club looking to bolster their midfield.
They are desperate to end their trophy drought and are willing to go big on signing Veiga, whose €40 million release clause is not beyond Tottenham’s means, given his performance in the ongoing season. Spurs want to bring in a player who can create chances and help their forwards score goals.

The 20-year-old can surely help the cause of both Tottenham and Liverpool. However, with Manchester City entering the race, it will be interesting to see if they can manage to outpower Pep Guardiola’s team in their pursuit of the Celta Vigo attacking midfielder.
