RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo, whose market value is €40 million, will prefer to join Barcelona amid interest from Manchester United.
Christian Falk has told Caught Offside that Dani Olmo has his preference for his next destination. The 24-year-old playmaker, whose market value is around €40 million, wants to join Barcelona. But Manchester United can capitalise on Barcelona’s financial woes by approaching RB Leipzig this summer.
Dani Olmo has made gradual progress since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020. The Spaniard was a highly sought-after figure in the market when he left the Croatian club. But despite enduring a rollercoaster ride at RB Leipzig, his stock has not fallen much. And his market value is €40 million.
The 24-year-old has been in and out of the side this season due to fitness issues. But Olmo has a solid tally of four goals and six assists in 24 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, the player will enter the final 12 months of his contract in July. And such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona and Manchester United.
Manchester United do not have an opening in the offensive unit right now. But with Antony and Jadon Sancho blowing hot and cold, the Spanish international is a viable target. Olmo can reprise different roles in the final third, making him an attractive proposition for Manchester United.
But the Red Devils face an uphill task pursuing the Spaniard, who wants to join Barcelona. Christian Falk said, “The Spaniard would like to join FC Barcelona, but is not averse to a move to England. Manchester United are also among those interested whilst Leipzig are struggling to renew Olmo’s contract.”
Speaking of Barcelona, the Catalan giants hold a long-standing interest in the 24-year-old. And with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres facing an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou, the Catalan giants need to scour the market for a wide attacker. Olmo thus fits the bill for Barcelona. But their financial woes mean they might not be able to afford him this summer.
Olmo’s price tag is unclear, but Manchester United can match his market value of €40 million. Barcelona’s issues give the Red Devils the opportunity to pounce. And it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can turn the player’s head and beat Barcelona to his signature.
