Newcastle United have reportedly been linked with a move for the Reims attacker Hugo Etikite, currently on loan at PSG.

According to a report from L’Equipe, as relayed by Sport Witness, Hugo Ekitike could be on the move this summer, and he could look to leave Reims permanently. Currently, the 20-year-old is on loan at Paris Saint-Germain, who have the option to sign permanently at the end of the season.

The French striker has been a squad player for PSG this season, and he has four goals and three assists to his name across all competitions. It remains to be seen whether the French champions are prepared to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

It is no secret that Newcastle United need to bring in attacking reinforcements, and the 20-year-old Frenchman could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition. The Magpies need to add more quality and depth to their attack. Alexander Isak has been the only reliable scorer at the club, with Callum Wilson struggling to score goals consistently.

Newcastle are well-placed to finish in the Champions League places, and they will be competing with the European elite next season. They need a bigger squad to compete on all fronts. And bringing in a quality striker should be a top priority for them.

The 20-year-old Frenchman would be a solid, long-term acquisition for Newcastle and they have the finances to pay a lucrative amount of money to his parent club as well. Etikite needs to join a club where he will be a regular first-team player so that he can continue his development and fulfil his potential.

Joining Paris Saint-Germain permanently might not be such a good idea for the youngster. PSG are a top-heavy side with a number of world-class attackers are their disposal. They will struggle to give Etikite the necessary game time next season.

On the other hand, Newcastle might be able to offer him ample first-team action. Eddie Howe has a proven track record when it comes to nurturing talented young players. So the Newcastle manager could help the 20-year-old continue his development with regular playing time.
