Manchester City rival Arsenal in Matheus Goncalves pursuit

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing 17-year-old Brazilian winger Matheus Goncalves, a target for Manchester City.

According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal are keeping tabs on 17-year-old Flamengo winger Matheus Goncalves. But the Gunners will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The two clubs are currently fighting it out for the Premier League title, and it remains to be seen who comes out on top. Arsenal will be hoping to beat Manchester City to the services of Goncalves as well.

The 17-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him. Goncalves is highly rated in South America he is expected to develop into a world-class player. Arsenal could certainly use more quality and depth in the wide areas.

Mikel Arteta has not been able to rotate players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli frequently because of the lack of options at his disposal. Signing a quality winger should be a top priority for Arsenal at the end of the season.

While the 17-year-old Brazilian is not ready to start every week for Arsenal, he has the potential to develop into an important first-team player for them. Arteta has helped nurture talented players like Saka and Martinelli during his time at the club. And both players of now established themselves as one of the best attackers in the Premier League. Goncalves will be hoping to follow in their footsteps if he ends up joining Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have the financial resources to compete with any club in world football, and they are a successful team as well. The opportunity to play under one of the best matches of all time in Pep Guardiola will certainly be a tempting proposition as well.

It will be interesting to see what the 17-year-old decides eventually. He needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action, and there will be a clear pathway to the first team.
