Aston Villa have entered the chase for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with Tottenham also keen on the Georgian.
According to Calciomercatoweb, many Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Tottenham, are chasing Valencia star Giorgi Mamardashvili. The goalkeeper has attracted plenty of interest following an impressive season in La Liga, with the Georgian ready to take a big step in his career.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been the shining light of Georgian football this season with his impressive performances for Napoli. Beyond the winger, fans do not know much about that country’s football or their players in general. However, another star has been silently performing at a high level in La Liga.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, the 22-year-old goalkeeper playing for Valencia, has been imperious for Los Che this season. He has conceded 32 goals in 27 appearances for the Spanish side, which has put him among the best in the division.
Naturally, with an impressive season under his belt, many clubs have been monitoring his progress, with a summer approach likely. Valencia’s well-documented financial troubles, coupled with a possible relegation from La Liga, could force a few sales.
Mamardashvili is one of their squad’s high-value stars, and a sale could materialise. Tottenham are keen on the 22-year-old as they seek a viable replacement for Hugo Lloris. Spurs have recently been linked to several players, with the club yet to finalise their preferred option.
Tottenham, along with Chelsea and Manchester United, reportedly met with the agents of Mamardashvili recently, which indicated a move to the Premier League might become a possibility. Valencia will entertain offers at a higher starting point and profit considerably over their €850,000 investment in the keeper.
The 22-year-old also has the attention of Aston Villa, with Unai Emery impressed with the star. Considering the growing interest in the World Cup winner, the English side could lose Emiliano Martinez in the summer. Incidentally, Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on the Argentine.
Aston Villa will look at Mamardashivili as a long-term option for the club, who are fighting to make it into Europe. Villa Park could prove a fantastic destination for the 22-year-old La goalkeeper if he wants to further his career.

Much will depend on where he gets to play regularly. In the case of Spurs and Villa, the departure of their respective No.1s will open the door for a player like Mamardashvili to stake a claim to the first-choice berth. Otherwise, if he decides to move, it must be for a club where he can feature every week.
