Tottenham Hotspur lead the race to secure the signature of the 28-year-old Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Rodrigo De Paul in their ranks. The 28-year-old is expected to part ways with Atletico Madrid in the summer. And, a lot of clubs are interested in his services. However, as per reports, Spurs are leading the race for the Argentine World Cup winner.

De Paul joined Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2021 Udinese. His first season at the club was an exceptional one. However, things have not been the same for the 28-year-old of late. His game time has gone down, and he is expected to part ways with the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The former Udinese midfielder has featured in 76 matches for Diego Simeone’s men and has 12 goal contributions. He has been terrific for his national team over the past few years. And, De Paul played an integral role in their Copa America as well as World Cup triumph.

But, his club career has not been that great of late. The 28-year-old has featured in 28 matches for Atletico Madrid in the ongoing season but has been on the pitch for just over 1600 minutes and has been involved in six goals.

De Paul is not happy with his role at Atletico Madrid and is looking to revive his club career with a move elsewhere. The 28-year-old is expected to be available for a fee of around €30 million. He is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently looking for a new manager. Spurs recently sacked Antonio Conte and are now on the look for a new boss ahead of next season.

Their priority is to first sort out the managerial situation before shifting their focus towards transfers. But Tottenham are still making plans for possible moves in the summer. And, they have De Paul as a potential option to reinforce their midfield.

The 28-year-old central midfielder has great defensive awareness and can also contribute to the attack. As a result, he could be a great addition to the Spurs squad. However, it won’t be easy to land him given the number of clubs interested in him.
