Aston Villa interested in Reiss Nelson

Reiss Nelson has been linked with a summer move away from Arsenal, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

According to reports from Fichajes, Arsenal are hoping to tie Reiss Nelson down to a new long-term contract. But clubs like Aston Villa are hoping to sign the 23-year-old forward on a free transfer.

Nelson has been a squad player for Arsenal this season, and he has not been a regular starter for them. The talented young winger will want to play every week, and it remains to be seen whether he is content with his role as a squad player.

The 23-year-old has three goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League so far this season despite playing a total of 103 minutes. Nelson is highly talented with a big future ahead of him, and he needs to play regularly at the stage of his career in order to continue his development and fulfil his potential.

A move from the north London club could prove to be ideal for the player’s growth. Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal want to tie him to a new contract. Meanwhile, Aston Villa are looking to add more quality to their attack, and the 23-year-old could prove to be a solid, long-term acquisition.

It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can convince the 23-year-old to snub a contract renewal offer from Arsenal, and move to the West Midlands club instead. Unai Emery has improved Aston Villa considerably since his arrival. And the West Midlands club are currently pushing for european qualification.

Villa have been overly dependent on Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey, and they will need to bring in more attackers if they want to do well in the coming seasons. Nelson will add goals and creativity in the final third and could develop into a key player for them.

Working with a world-class coach like Emery  at Aston Villa will only help the youngster improve further, and it could accelerate his development as well. Arsenal will probably have to offer him first-team assurances to convince him to sign a new deal with them.
