Arsenal are interested in signing 21-year-old Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana ahead of next season.

According to Football Insider, Premier League leaders Arsenal are keen on having the services of Amadou Onana. The 21-year-old has impressed one and all with his performance in the ongoing season. And, Mikel Arteta’s team might vie for the Everton midfielder’s services in the summer.

Onana came into the limelight after impressive performances for LOSC Lille. His heroics attracted the attention of the Toffees, who sealed a move for the youngster ahead of the ongoing season.

The 21-year-old has taken giant leaps since joining the Premier League club. He has become an integral part of their first team and has featured in 28 matches in all competitions and has two goal contributions to his name. Meanwhile, his market value has risen to €42 million.

The Everton midfielder has been a rock in front of his back-line. He has done his bit despite the poor performances of the team as a whole. His existing contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027. However, the Belgian international could be on the move in the summer given the amount of interest in his services.

Meanwhile, Arsenal who have done wonders in the ongoing season have their eyes on the 21-year-old. Mikel Arteta’s team are leading the race for the league title. They have been phenomenal in the top flight and are all set to return to the Champions League next season.

Arteta already preparing strategies for the upcoming transfer window. He has a shortlist of three midfielders that he would love to have in his ranks. And, Onana is one of the candidates alongside Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.

The Arsenal manager is well aware of the fact that Rice and Caicedo could cost them a fortune. And there will be a lot of competition from top European clubs for their services. As a result, he might look to push for Onana on a priority basis given the fact that he will be a cheaper option.

The 21-year-old’s arrival will add depth to their midfield and allow Arteta to have multiple options to work with. While he might be a cheaper option than Rice or Caicedo, Arsenal still have to battle a few other clubs for his signatures. Meanwhile, Everton might demand a rate higher than his market value of €42 million.
