Liverpool are all set to break the bank to acquire the services of the 19-year-old Benfica defender Antonio Silva.

According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool are keen on signing Antonio Silva ahead of next season. The Merseyside club is expected to go big in the upcoming transfer window after a disappointing ongoing season. Jurgen Klopp’s team want to land a new centre-back in their ranks and are expected to push for the 19-year-old in the summer.

Silva has been a part of Benfica for quite a few years now. The Portugal international has gone up the ranks at the club to become an integral part of their first team. He was promoted to their senior team ahead of the ongoing season and has gone from strength to strength since.

The 19-year-old has featured in 36 matches for the Portuguese club and has racked up over 3200 minutes. Silva has been a rock in the centre of the defence for Benfica. He is one of the reasons for the Portuguese club’s dominance in the league. They are ten points clear of second-placed team FC Porto.

The Portugal international’s performances have not gone unnoticed. The teenage sensation is on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe. Juventus are one of the clubs who desperately want to land the 19-year-old in their ranks ahead of next season. However, they have suffered a major blow in his pursuit as per the latest reports.

Silva’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2027. But, there is a €100 million release clause in his contract which could see him leave ahead of next season. However, the Old Lady’s financial conditions and legal issues will not allow them to break the bank to acquire his services.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are one of the contenders to acquire his services. And as per the reports, they are willing to go all out to sign him. The Merseyside club have had a disappointing season so far. And, they are expected to enter the summer market to bolster their squad.
