Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 32-year-old Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea ahead of next season.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur could push for the signature of David De Gea in the summer. Spurs are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper ahead of next season. They are looking for a potential Hugo Lloris replacement and could push for the 32-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper.

De Gea has been the undisputed number one at Old Trafford for quite a few years now. The Spain international started off at Atlético Madrid’s youth academy. He went up the ranks at the club before joining the Red Devils in the summer of 2011.

The Manchester United goalkeeper’s form in the first half of the season was a major concern for Erik ten Hag. But, he has managed to bounce back and is enjoying his football at the Manchester-based club. The 32-year-old has 18 clean sheets in his 42 appearances in the ongoing season.

De Gea is back at his best, but his contract at Manchester United is creating a bit of trouble for the club. The Spain international’s ongoing contract ends in the summer but there is the option to extend it by another 12 months.

However, the club want him to lower his wages before they pen down an extension. They are not willing to continue paying him €418,000 per week. If the player does not agree to lower his salary, he might be on his way out in the summer.

A lot of clubs are aware of the ongoing situation and are willing to push for his signatures. Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes set on United’s number one. They are looking to replace Hugo Lloris in goal.

The 36-year-old French international is in the twilight of his career, and his performances have declined of late. While there is still over a year left in his existing contract, the London club are already planning to replace Lloris who has been at the club for over a decade.

While de Gea might not be a long-term replacement for Lloris, he can surely be a great addition to the club. The 32-year-old surely has a few years still left in him and getting his signatures can surely help their cause. However, they will face competition from clubs across Europe. One of the clubs that could push for the Spain international are Bayern Munich.
