Liverpool are seriously considering a move for Evan Ndicka and battling Arsenal and Barcelona for the 23-year-old centre-back.
According to Daily Mirror, Liverpool are considering moving for ‘free agent’ Evan Ndicka in the summer. Several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, are courting the 23-year-old French centre-back as he represents an attractive proposition for teams looking to sign a valuable talent.
Evan Ndicka has fortified his name as one of the top defensive talents in Europe after consistent performances in the Bundesliga since 2018. He arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt from AJ Auxerre and became a mainstay in their backline.
The Frenchman has made 174 appearances for Frankfurt during this period and will make some more before the end of the season. After that, he will leave the Bundesliga side as a free agent when his deal expires, with a move to the Premier League on the cards.
There is interest from PSG and Barcelona, with both clubs seemingly tempting destinations for any players. Ndicka was born in Paris and could take PSG’s interest with all seriousness if they pursue his signature. The same goes for Barcelona, who want highly rated talents on bargain deals owing to their financial troubles.
However, the most attractive interest comes from England, with many top-name clubs vying for Ndicka’s signature. In January, reports emerged of an agreement with Arsenal, which has since turned out to be false. The race for the 23-year-old French centre-back remains open, with Liverpool now one of the leading candidates.
Liverpool are ready to battle their rivals for the 23-year-old French centre-back. Jurgen Klopp remains keen on adding a solid defender to his ranks after a disastrous season under his belt. He might disperse off with Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the summer and add Ndicka to the equation.
The report suggests Ndicka may seek regular first-team football, which may not come as promised at Merseyside. However, Klopp may feel the defender could become the right fit for his system heading into next season. Moreover, the 23-year-old French centre-back’s availability on a Bosman mve could allow the Reds to focus their finances on other lucrative targets like Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount.
Other clubs like Tottenham are keen on the defender, while Chelsea have also shown an interest in the past. The big threat for Liverpool could come from Arsenal, who may not necessarily need a new centre-back but could make a pitch for Ndicka.
The Gunners can offer Champions League football to Ndicka, something Liverpool may not qualify for. Moreover, they might finish the season as Premier League champions, thus adding to the credibility of their stature. Ndicka may again see the prospects of playing regularly, as the current partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba seems steady under Mikel Arteta.
Ndicka will remain focused on his efforts with Frankfurt until the season ends. He could evaluate offers in the summer before deciding on his next club based on many factors. For now, Liverpool are one of the strong contenders for the free agent. But they might have to make a brilliant pitch to entice the defender ahead of Arsenal and Barcelona.
