Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz in a deal worth €30 million.
A report from Defensa Central claims that Premier League giants Arsenal are keen on signing 23-year-old Real Madrid attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz at the end of the season by offering €30 million for him.
The Spaniard is currently on loan at Italian club AC Milan, and he has been a key player for them. Clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle United are keen on him as well. The 23-year-old playmaker has five goals and two assists to his name across all competitions, and he has established himself as the main creator for the Rossoneri.
Mikel Arteta is looking to add more depth to his squad and he views the Spanish midfielder as the ideal option. Diaz can operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger on both flanks. His versatility would be a massive bonus for the Gunners if they managed to sign him.
Diaz is set to return to Real Madrid at the end of the season. However, it appears that AC Milan have the option to sign in permanently for €30 million. Meanwhile, it is also important to note that Real Madrid have the option to buy the player back.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can get a deal across the line in the coming months. Arteta has not been able to rotate his key players Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard too often this season because of the dearth of attacking options. Signing Diaz will allow him to rotate his key players more often next season.
Arsenal will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next year. So they will need a deeper squad to cope with the increased number of games. The opportunity to play in the Premier League is likely to be an attractive proposition for the 23-year-old playmaker. And for €30 million, Diaz will be a solid signing.
Diaz might not get regular game time at Real Madrid given the kind of options the Spanish giants have at their disposal. And a permanent exit from the club could be ideal for him. That said, Real Madrid might also lose Marco Asensio as a free agent. And they are probably looking at the 23-year-old as the long-term replacement for Asensio.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few months. If Arsenal can submit a lucrative offer to the Spanish club and give the midfielder some game-time assurances, things might work out in their favour eventually.
