Bayern Munich are interested in signing Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy from Chelsea ahead of next season.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Bayern Munich are preparing a double raid on Chelsea. The German giants are interested in signing Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy ahead of next season. With the Blues looking to offload a few of their senior players, Bayern are ready to push for the duo.

Julian Nagelsmann’s departure from Bayern Munich is almost a certainty despite no official confirmation from the German giants. And, former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is all set to take charge of the club.

For now, Tuchel will look to push for the Champions League and the Bundesliga title with the players that he has at his disposal. But, he is expected to make a few major changes to the squad ahead of next season. Tuchel might push for a few of the players that he worked with at Chelsea.

People at Bayern are already planning for the summer transfer window. And, they have their eyes set on Kovacic and Mendy, who were both an important part of the German tactician’s plans during his time at Chelsea.

Kovacic has featured in 27 matches for Chelsea in the ongoing season. And, is still an important part of their setup despite the numerous signings they have made over the years. However, his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024. And, they might look to sell the 28-year-old in the summer. Even the player is considering a move away from the club.

Meanwhile, Mendy who played an integral part in Chelsea’s UCL triumph in the 2020/21 season is no longer their undisputed number one. He has lost his starting place to Kepa Arrizabalaga. Mendy might be offloaded in the summer as the Blues look for a young keeper.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper has struggled with injuries and has only made a total of 11 appearances in the ongoing season. Moving to a new club could help his cause. And, on top of that, reuniting with former boss Tuchel might bring the best out in him.

Bayern are eager to sign the Chelsea duo. They are looking for a replacement for Manuel Neuer who is 36 and is in the twilight of his career. And, Mendy fits the bill perfectly having done wonders during his time with the Blues.

Meanwhile, the German giants also want to add depth to their midfield. And, they have identified Kovacic as someone who can bolster their midfield. His arrival will allow the manager to rotate his midfielders and still maintain the quality of football. With Tuchel all set to take charge, the arrival of the Chelsea duo does make sense. However, it will be interesting to see if they can get it done.
