Journalist Steve Bates suggests Manchester United could afford Kylian Mbappe if the Qatari takeover is successful.

According to Steve Bates via Give Me Sport, Kylian Mbappe could become a feasible target for Manchester United under new Qatari ownership. While the Red Devils are subjected to bids from numerous suitors, the middle-east prospect may turn the club’s fortunes.

Manchester United fans are eager to see their club change ownership from the Glazers. The Americans have been successful since taking over the club. But for years, they have been at odds with the fanbase. The Glazers have endured endless criticism of their regime, and the summer might see a change of guard.

For now, there are few suitors. But Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe could make a second offer after the initial proposals were deemed unfit. The Qatari side has gotten a lot of attention as immense funding is promised.

Some recent reports claimed the Qatari group could even take fan opinions on future signings while promising to involve the supporters in decision-making. Meanwhile, Sir Jim Ratcliffe also remains in the hunt. However, fans are more interested in the transfer side of things as the takeover talks rumble on.

Many feel the Qatari money could fund transfers for some of the biggest players on the planet. One could be Kylian Mbappe, as Manchester United remain interested in the French superstar. While he remains at PSG on a reported contract until 2025, nobody can envisage another club paying vast sums to sign the World Cup winner.

Mbappe is on a highly lucrative deal at PSG, meaning any club vying for his signature will have to spend lavishly on fees and salary. Manchester United are a handful with the capabilities, and with Qatari investment, they could become a massive force in the market.

Journalist Steve Bates certainly believes in that prospect, as he thinks the Qatari takeover could fund a move for Mbappe.

He said, “We know that because of the money he is on from the contract signed with PSG, whatever deal is done will cost huge money if he just decided to leave Paris in the summer.

“It’s money that new Qatari owners at Manchester United could only provide. I think the cost of that would rule Liverpool out. I would guess it would probably only put Manchester City and Manchester United in the frame in terms of the Premier League.”

As for Liverpool, the Reds may not have the financial capabilities. But they were interested in Mbappe before he signed the new deal with PSG. The World Cup winner reportedly rejected the idea of joining the Merseysiders. However, if the forward decides to move, the feeling is that he would join Real Madrid over any other side.

In the current market, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are the only clubs that could realistically afford to sign Mbappe. The big stumbling block would come from PSG, who, under no circumstances, will allow the player to depart before his contract ends.
