Chelsea keen on signing Robert Sanchez

Chelsea vs FC Noah: Preview and Prediction.

Chelsea are keen on signing Robert Sanchez as their new goalkeeper next season, with his future unclear under Roberto De Zerbi.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are keeping tabs on Robert Sanchez, intending to sign the goalkeeper in the summer. The Brighton star recently fell out of favour under Roberto De Zerbi, with the Blues, Manchester United, and Tottenham keeping watch.

Robert Sanchez remains a highly-rated goalkeeper in Premier League circles. His talents proved a major boost for Brighton’s defence over the last two years, catching many English heavyweights’ attention. His performances under former boss Graham Potter particularly caught the eye of many.

In recent weeks, things have gone differently for the 25-year-old goalkeeper. De Zerbi has preferred to install Jason Steele as his No.1 while insisting Sanchez needs to improve his game for the system. The Italian has under no circumstances banished the Spaniard but only wants to see a change in his style to suit the team.

There is optimism Sanchez will return to the fold before the season ends, as Brighton still have plenty to play for. They are chasing a European place while also reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Sanchez continues to attract the interest of top Premier League sides, including Chelsea. The Blues could seek a new goalkeeper in the summer. And if Potter stays, he may want a reunion with his former No.1, as they want to replace Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea could sell Mendy in the summer, with Kepa Arrizabalaga the clear favourite under Potter. Yet, the goalkeeping situation will be seen as a weak point for the exciting team built by Todd Boehly. Potter will want someone who can come in and challenge the record-breaking stopper for a place.

Chelsea also have an interest in lllan Meslier, and the two PL keepers have plenty of other clubs chasing. From Potter’s perspective, he might go for Sanchez if given a choice. However, the Leeds United star also has merits and possibly more experience than the Spaniard.

Meanwhile, Chelsea face stiff competition from Tottenham and Manchester United for Sanchez. While Tottenham want to replace veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Manchester United will look for an upgrade on David de Gea.

Brighton will demand a significant sum for the 25-year-old goalkeeper if they decide to sell. A move to Chelsea will be seen as an upgrade by many. But if Brighton qualify for Europe and the Blues do not, things might become complicated for Sanchez. That will provide a boost to Manchester United and Tottenham.
