Liverpool willing to fork out €60 million to sign Matheus Nunes

Liverpool are ready to break the bank to acquire the services of 24-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.

According to a report by talkSPORT via Fichajes, Liverpool are interested in signing Matheus Nunes. The Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder has been on their radar for a while now. And the Reds are likely to push for his signatures in the summer with a €60 million bid.

Nunes has been sensational for the Wolves in the ongoing season. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention of late. The Portuguese international joined them ahead of the ongoing season, and he has already become an integral part of their team.

Wolves have not had the best of the seasons so far. While they might be 13th on the league table, they are just four points off the drop zone. Despite their struggles, Nunes has performed on a consistent basis. He has featured in 24 out of the 28 league matches this season.

The 24-year-old midfielder’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2027. And, there is an option to extend it by another 12 months. While there are still a lot of years left in his contract, Wolverhampton Wanderers could still sell him if they receive a good offer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are keen on signing the Portugal international. Jurgen Klopp’s men have struggled in the ongoing season. They are currently fighting for a top-four spot in the league and have already been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

They have been far from their best, and a lot of it is because of an inconsistent midfield. A few of their senior players in the centre of the park are on the decline, while others have struggled with injuries and bad form.

Klopp is looking for a complete overhaul in the centre of the park. He is desperate for reinforcements in the midfield and will push for a few new midfielders in the upcoming transfer window. It is almost certain that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arthur, and Naby Keita will leave in the summer. And, they will have to sign a few new midfielders if they want to return to their best.

While Jude Bellingham is their priority heading into the transfer window, they are not willing to pay the price that Borussia Dortmund want for the England international. As a result, Liverpool have shifted their focus to Nunes. And they are willing to spend €60 million to sign him from Wolves.

The Merseyside club want a world-class central midfielder who can control the tempo of the match. Klopp believes the 24-year-old could be a great fit for the club. It will be interesting to see how Wolves respond to a €60 million bid.
