Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Juventus wide man Filip Kostic, a target for Chelsea.
A report from Calciomercatoweb claims that Tottenham will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea for Filip Kostic. And the Serbian wide man will cost around €30 million, which seems like a reasonable fee for a player of his quality.
The 30-year-old has been an impressive player for Juventus since moving to Serie A. And he has three goals and 11 assists across all competitions. Kostic has a contract with Juventus until the summer of 2026. But the Serie A outfit are prepared to sell him if the asking price is met. He has been linked with a move to England in the past.
Juventus could end up missing out on Champions League football, and it would come as a major blow to their finances. They might look to sell some players to balance the books. And it seems that Kostic could be available for a reasonable €30 million in the summer.
Tottenham need to add more quality in the wide areas, and the Serbian wide man would be a superb acquisition. He will add creativity and flair from the flanks. The 30-year-old is capable of operating as a left winger as well as a left-sided wing-back.
Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Ivan Perisic could push to return to Inter Milan this coming summer. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay the asking price for him in the coming months.
Chelsea certainly have more resources compared to Tottenham. But the Blues have already signed Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in January. It seems highly unlikely that they will invest in another winger, especially when they have players like Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi at their disposal.
Furthermore, Chelsea are unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. And Kostic could be attracted to the idea of playing for Tottenham who are more likely to secure a top-four finish. The 30-year-old is at the peak of his career. And the opportunity to move to the Premier League could be an attractive option for him.
It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually. He has the ability to make an immediate impact in the Premier League, and he is likely to improve Tottenham or Chelsea in the final third. Players like Harry Kane would certainly benefit from his passing and crossing ability.
