Chelsea considering Andreas Pereira as Mason Mount replacement

Chelsea are interested in signing 27-year-old Fulham playmaker Andreas Pereira as they look for a Mason Mount replacement.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are keen on signing Andreas Pereira from Fulham. The 27-year-old has been performing on a consistent basis for the Premier League outfit and is on the radar of quite a few clubs. The Blues are looking at potential replacements for Mason Mount and believe that the Fulham playmaker could be a great fit at the club.

Mount has been a part of the Chelsea setup since the start of his career. He has gone up the ranks at the club and has become one of their most important players. The 24-year-old played an important part in their UEFA Champions League triumph a few seasons back.

However, it looks like his time at the club is about to come to an end. Mount’s current contract at the club ends in the summer of 2024. And, contract negotiations with the player have come to a standstill. With the Blues unable to extend his current contract, they might look to sell him in the summer.

The is because if they do not get an extension, they could lose him for free in a year’s time. Meanwhile, they have also started to look for alternatives to replace the 24-year-old. Chelsea have been impressed by Andreas Pereira’s heroics at Fulham and might push for him in the summer.

The 27-year-old joined the Cottagers from Manchester United ahead of the ongoing season. And, he has already made a name for himself at the club with impressive performances. Pereira has nine goal contributions in his 32 outings. And, apart from the goal contributions, his overall game has been top-notch.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and Chelsea are keen on signing him ahead of next season. Pereira’s current contract with Fulham ends in the summer of 2026, and there is the option to extend it for another year.

The 27-year-old is currently valued at around £35 million. And, he would be an ideal and cost-effective replacement for Mount. Meanwhile, Pereira’s contract with the Cottagers also includes a relegation release clause of £15 million if they go down from the Premier League.

Fulham are safe from the drop in the ongoing season, but the clause will still be valid for next year. As a result, if they receive the right bid, they might look to sell the Brazil international. However, Chelsea will have to battle it out with multiple clubs from across Europe in order to land him at the club. Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid also interested are also interested in Pereira.
