Premier League clubs Southampton, Brighton and Leicester City are interested in signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a wanted man in the Premier League. Southampton, Brighton and Leicester City are amongst the clubs that are keen on signing the 29-year-old Liverpool midfielder.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had a six-year stint at Arsenal before making a move to the Merseyside club in the summer of 2017. The England international has been a great servant of the club and he has won every major title with the club.
He has gone from strength to strength over the past six seasons for Jurgen Klopp’s team. The 29-year-old has featured in 145 matches for the Merseyside club and has 33 goal contributions to his name. But he has fallen down the pecking order of late had his game time has taken a major hit. Oxlade-Chamberlain has only made a total of 12 appearances in the ongoing season.
He has been on the park for less than 500 minutes in total. While injuries have played their part, the 29-year-old has not impressed the German boss, and he has been left on the bench while he was available for selection.
The England international’s contract at the Merseyside club ends in the summer. He will be a free agent in a few months’ time. And a lot of English clubs have their eyes set on the 29-year-old.
Southampton, Brighton and Leicester City are amongst the clubs who are keen on having his services. Oxlade-Chamberlain started off at the youth academy of the Saints. He came through the ranks at the club before moving to Arsenal.
The club are keen on bringing him back and they are confident the 29-year-old could change their fortunes. However, they are well aware of the fact that if they fail to survive in the English top flight they might not stand a chance to sign him.
Similar is the situation of the Foxes who are also interested in his services. They will have to survive in the Premier League if they want to fulfil their desire of signing the England international. There is a lot of uncertainty around Leicester’s star midfielders and his arrival could help them cope with any potential departure as well as increase their squad depth.
Meanwhile, Brighton are also keen on having the 29-year-old. The Seagulls are preparing a contract offer for Oxlade-Chamberlain. Their manager Roberto De Zerbi wants to add a more dynamic midfielder to his ranks ahead of next season. He believes the England international could solve his problems. While there is a lot of interest in his services it will be interesting to see who ends up winning this transfer tussle.
