Tottenham eyeing Mike Maignan move

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 27-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan ahead of next season.

According to Caught Offside, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Mike Maignan in the summer. The 27-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper has been doing wonders for the Italian club and he is on the radar of quite a few clubs across Europe.

Maignan was a part of the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy since 2009. He came up the ranks at PSG before making a move to LOSC Lille in the summer of 2015. The 27-year-old was a consistent performer at Lille.

His heroics caught the eye of Milan and they signed him ahead of the 2021-22 season. The French shot-stopper has featured in 52 matches for the Italian outfit and has 23 clean sheets to his name. While injuries have kept him out for the majority of the ongoing season, he has still showcased his class in the limited opportunities that he has had.

The French international has three clean sheets in ten Serie A outings. Maignan’s contract at Milan ends in the summer of 2026. However, he might leave in the upcoming summer given the amount of interest in his services of late.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs who have their eyes set on the 27-year-old. The club watched him closely in their Round of 16 fixture against Milan which resulted in their elimination. The French shot-stopper pulled off a stunning save in the final minutes of the game to stop the tie from going to extra time. His heroics helped Milan cruise past Spurs on the night.

His heroics have not gone unnoticed. And, Spurs who are looking to replace Hugo Lloris ahead of next season have Maignan as a potential transfer target. The 27-year-old has impressed the people at the club and they believe he could be their next undisputed number one in goal.

Lloris who has been a great servant for Tottenham is in the twilight of his career. And, his performances have been on the decline of late. The 36-year-old has also been subject to numerous injuries. As a result, Spurs are keen on having Maignan at the club ahead of next season.

They are ready to prise him away from Milan. However, the Italian giants will do their best to keep the 27-year-old at the club and won’t let him leave unless they are offered a deal that cannot be refused.
