Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 26-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt.

A report from 90min claims that Arsenal and Liverpool will battle it out with other suitors for 26-year-old German international Julian Brandt at the end of the season.

Brandt will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, and he could be available for a reasonable price. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool and Arsenal are prepared to submit an official offer for the player in the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old German playmaker has been in impressive form for Dortmund this season, and he has nine goals and five assists to his name across all competitions. He has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur as well.

Liverpool definitely need someone like him in their squad, and Brandt would be a key player for Jurgen Klopp. The Reds need to bring in a midfielder who will help them break down stubborn defences and create more opportunities for their forwards.

Julian Brandt has been a key player for Dortmund this season.

Brandt can play as the central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. His versatility will be an added bonus. The German international will add goals, creativity and vision in the final third. The 26-year-old is entering his peak years and could play his best football under Klopp at Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether the Liverpool manager can use his connections at the German club and get the deal across the line in the coming months. Given the fact that he has a contract with Dortmund until the summer of 2024, the Reds might be able to sign him for a reasonable price in the summer.

On the other hand, Arsenal have been overly reliant on Martin Odegaard for creativity this season. The Norwegian midfielder has been outstanding for the Gunners, and he is one of the main reasons why they are at the top of the table right now.

However, Mikel Arteta needs more options at his disposal, and Brandt could be the ideal alternative to Odegaard. The German midfielder is capable of slotting into the wide roles as well, and Arteta will be able to rotate his attackers with the German international at his disposal.

The 26-year-old could be attracted to the idea of playing for a Premier League club in the summer, and Arsenal are certainly an attractive destination. The Gunners are well-placed to win the Premier League title, and they are likely to qualify for the Champions League as well.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal would represent an exciting move for the 26-year-old midfielder, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Brandt would probably have a better chance of starting for Liverpool as compared to Arsenal. In addition, the opportunity to work with Klopp could also be attempting proposition for him.
