Jurgen Klopp’s men have underperformed in the ongoing season and they will look for a midfield overhaul in the summer. While their priority will be to sign a few world-class players, they will also look for young blood in order to add squad depth.

Whereas, the Magpies who are trying to build a team that can challenge for major silverware are also keen on having Varela in their ranks. Eddie Howe’s team need a few reinforcements in the midfield and they believe adding the 21-year-old could solve a few issues.

Varela is a young defensive midfielder who has immense potential and he will surely bolster the squad that he joins. However, it will be interesting to see if either of the two teams manages to land him given the interest in his services from across Europe.
