Italian giants AC Milan are interested in signing 21-year-old Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun ahead of next season.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, AC Milan are keen on having the services of Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun. The 21-year-old, who is currently on loan at Stade Reims, has been on fire in the ongoing season. His performances have not gone unnoticed and a lot of clubs across Europe are likely to push for him in the summer.
Italian giants AC Milan are one of the clubs who are keen on having him in their ranks. Balogun has been a part of the Arsenal setup since his childhood days. He came up through the ranks but couldn’t break into the first team and has been subject to multiple loan moves away from the club.
However, the 21-year-old has surely managed to get into the limelight through his heroics for the French side in the ongoing season. Balogun joined Stade Reims ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season and he has impressed one and all with his performances in the French league.
The 21-year-old has featured in 27 matches in the ongoing season and has 18 goal contributions to his name. The Arsenal loanee is fifth in the Golden Boot race having scored 15 goals in the French top flight. Balogun is four goals behind Jonathan David and would surely give it his best to try and win the Golden Boot.
Meanwhile, he is all set to return to Arsenal ahead of next season. Mikel Arteta is keen on having the 21-year-old in his ranks. The England Under-21 star’s contract at Arsenal ends in the summer of 2025. However, he could be on his way out given the amount of interest in his services.
AC Milan are likely to push for his signature in the summer. They have done a decent job so far this season but are in desperate need of reinforcement in the forward position. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract at the club ends in the summer while Olivier Giroud is also in the twilight of his career.
Stefano Pioli is unlikely to rely on his senior strikers for the next season and will look to add new blood to their ranks. They are keen on having Balogun at the club ahead of next season and are willing to go all out for his services.
However, it won’t be that easy a task to land him. It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal are willing to let him leave given his heroics in the French league. Even Mikel Arteta is looking for a new number nine and he could depend on the 21-year-old for goals given his recent track record.
