Manchester United are reportedly looking to bring in a goalscorer at the end of the season on a priority basis.

A report from Football Insider claims that Manchester United have made it their top priority to sign a top-class striker at the end of the season. While scoring goals has not been an issue for this season because of Marcus Rashford’s form, the Red Devils still need to bring in a reliable number nine at the end of the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo left the club midway through the season. And Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Rashford for goals ever since. While the England international remains the top-class player who will continue to score goals for Manchester United, they cannot rely on one player to bail them out every week.

Erik ten Hag decided to sign Wout Weghorst on loan during the January transfer window. But the Dutchman has scored just twice so far. It is clear that he is not good enough for a club of Manchester United’s stature, and he will likely return to his parent club at the end of the season.

The Red Devils must look to bring in a quality striker who can lead the line for them. It would also allow Rashford to play in his natural role as the left-sided forward. They have have been linked with players like Victor Osimhen.

The Napoli striker has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 21 goals across all competitions. He could prove to be a sensational coup for Manchester United if they manage to pull it off. But they will have to pay a club-record fee in order to sign him.

The Red Devils are well placed to secure UEFA Champions League qualification, and they have the resources to pay big money for a striker. They have been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as well.

Ten Hag has done an admirable job so far and he has guided Manchester United to the League Cup trophy win. The Red Devils could win more trophies before the end of the season, making them an attractive destination for players during the summer transfer window.
