Liverpool are pushing for the signature of 27-year-old Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot amid interest from Manchester United.
According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on having the services of Adrien Rabiot ahead of next season. Rabiot is a highly sought-after player at this point in time, and a lot of clubs have their eyes set on the 27-year-old. Meanwhile, the Merseyside club are all set to offer him a lucrative contract to join them in the summer.
Rabiot has managed to revive himself in the past few seasons at Juventus. The France international joined the Italian club back in the summer of 2019 after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain ran out. Initially, he was not a regular in the team but of late he has been one of their most important players.
The 27-year-old had a magical FIFA World Cup 2022. He was outstanding throughout the tournament and helped Les Bleus reach the final of the global event. Rabiot did not let anyone feel the absence of their star players who were ruled out due to injury.
He is having a great season at Juventus. The former PSG midfielder has made a total of 29 appearances for the Turin-based club and has 9 goal contributions to his name.
Rabiot’s current contract at Juventus runs out in the summer. There are no talks of renewal at this point in time. He is desperate to play in the UEFA Champions League, and with Juventus unlikely to finish in the top four he might leave for free in a few months’ time.
Premier League clubs have identified this opportunity and are all set to push for his signatures in the summer. Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been keen on having the 27-year-old in their ranks. Erik ten Hag wants to add a new midfielder to his ranks, and he believes Rabiot could wonders at the club.
However, Liverpool are all set to prise him away from Manchester. The Merseyside club are set to offer the 27-year-old a huge contract to join them ahead of next season.
Liverpool have struggled in the ongoing season, but they have managed to pick themselves up of late. They are within touching distance of a top-four spot. They have identified areas where they need reinforcement ahead of next season.
Jurgen Klopp will look for a complete overhaul in midfield. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are likely to leave Anfield in the summer. As a result, they will look to make a lot of signings.
Rabiot currently is on a £145,000-a-week contract in Turin. Offering a lucrative contract and signing him for free will help them push for a marquee signing in the midfield. However, it will be interesting to see where he ends up given the amount of interest in his services.
