Manchester United, Tottenham run rule over Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all set to battle it out for the signature of 19-year-old Benjamin Sesko.

According to 90min, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Red Bull Salzburg prodigy Benjamin Sesko. The 19-year-old has been in red-hot form in the ongoing season, and Premier League clubs have their eyes set on the highly-rated striker.

Sesko joined Red Bull Salzburg from the Under-17 setup of NK Domzale. Immediately after moving to the Austrian club, he went out on a two-year-long loan. Since his return in 2021, he has gone from strength to strength. The Slovenian international has managed to establish himself as a key player in the club.

The 19-year-old has made 68 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg and has 32 goal contributions to his name. Sesko has featured in 30 matches in the ongoing season and has 14 goal contributions. He had an impressive outing on Sunday, scoring a hat-trick in the final 10 minutes to help his side win 4-2 against Rapid Wien.

It was an important win for Red Bull Salzburg, who now have a nine-point lead at the top of the Austrian top flight. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur representatives have been keeping an eye on the 19-year-old of late. And, they were watching the game on the weekend.

Meanwhile, Sesko is all set to join Red Bull Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig ahead of next season. However, Manchester United and Spurs are still confident about signing him in the summer. Leipzig might sell the 19-year-old without him featuring for the club if they receive a big price tag.

Erik ten Hag has done a wonderful job at Manchester United. He has already led them to a trophy, and they are still in the race for three more. However, they do have a few concerns that they will look to solve before heading into the next season.

Ten Hag is keen on having a new striker, with Wout Weghorst set to return to his parent club and Anthony Martial struggling with injuries. He has identified the 19-year-old as a great fit for the club. And, Manchester United will push for him in the summer.

Meanwhile, they will have to battle it out with Tottenham for his signature. The London club have done a decent job in the ongoing season. However, Antonio Conte wants to add more firepower to his squad. With the future of a few of their forwards uncertain, they are willing to go all out for the 19-year-old.

However, it won’t be easy given the interest in his services from across Europe and the fact that he is all set to join Leipzig in the summer. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United or Tottenham manage to price him away from the German club.
