Manchester United will have to battle it out with Arsenal and Chelsea for the signature of 21-year-old Moises Caicedo.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Moises Caicedo, who is also on the radar of Arsenal and Chelsea. The three Premier League clubs are all set to battle it out for the 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion star.
Caicedo has been performing at very high level for the past year and has been on the radar of multiple clubs. Brighton received a lot of bids in January for the Ecuador international, but they were not willing to let him leave mid-season.
The 21-year-old has recently penned a new deal with the Premier League club. His new contract will end in the summer of 2027. However, he still might be on his way out in the summer. But, this time around, Brighton will have a much better position while negotiating with other clubs.
Brighton wanted £90 million for the 21-year-old in the winter transfer window. But, with a new contract sealed in the past week, his price tag could even increase.
Caicedo joined the Seagulls from Beerschot V.A. ahead of the ongoing season. His performances for club and the country have been very impressive. The Brighton midfielder was brilliant at the FIFA World Cup 2022. His performances have seen his value increase many folds. And, the interest in his services is quite understandable.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is keen on having him at Manchester United. The Dutch tactician has done wonders since taking the job at Old Trafford. He wants to further strengthen his midfield and is willing to go big on signing the 21-year-old.
However, they will have to battle it out with Arsenal and Chelsea. Both clubs pushed for his signature in the winter transfer window. The Gunners were desperate to land the Ecuador international. But their bids were rejected, and they were forced to settle with the signing of Jorginho from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the Blues, who recently spent a fortune on new players, are looking to add another midfielder to the mix. The west London club will look to offload a few senior players in the summer. And, they are keen on having Caicedo at the club.
The 21-year-old is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a central midfielder. He will surely bolster the squad of whichever club he joins. Caicedo is composed on the ball and his defensive work rate is up there with the best in the league.
While Manchester United are keen on securing his services, it won’t be easy given the interest from Arsenal and Chelsea. It will be interesting to see which club comes out on top and at what price Brighton are ready to let go of their star player.
