Leeds United are keen on Che Adams if Southampton suffer relegation, with the Scottish forward set to enter his final contractual year.

According to Football Insider, Che Adams is a target for Leeds United in the summer, as they are ready to sign the Scottish forward if he becomes available. The Yorkshire side have problems in their attack and believes Adams, with his Premier League experience, could prove useful.

Leeds are hoping to sign a decent forward in the next window to strengthen their frontline. Patrick Bamford has been a disappointing figure since returning from a long-term injury, while Rodrigo has had fitness issues, which have kept him out of contention.

Leeds wanted a new central striker in January and signed Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim in a record deal. The forward has yet to score in four substitute appearances, although there is the confidence that he will come good eventually.

Meanwhile, they reportedly tried to sign Hwang Hee-chan from Wolves, but the West Midlands side may not have been interested in a mid-season sale. Moreover, both sides are fighting the relegation battle, which may have played its part.

Now, Leeds are reportedly interested in Che Adams. The Scottish international was the subject of speculation for the last two windows but somehow ended up staying with the Saints. Things might change if they end up in the Championship next season, which would put clubs interested in Adams on high alert.

Leeds considers Adams’ Premier League experience important and could make a decent offer for his services if Southampton suffers relegation. Javi Gracia’s side are in a similar position, with only goal difference preventing their entry into the danger zone.

Adams will enter the final year of his contract at St. Mary’s, meaning Southampton could be forced to sell or risk losing the 26-year-old Premier League forward on a free transfer. Meanwhile, other midtable sides could also come in for the striker.

He has had a decent return this season, with nine goals in 29 appearances in all competitions. While Leeds are interested in a summer transfer, much will depend on their own survival.
