Premier League leaders Arsenal are all set to break the bank to land 24-year-old Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

According to Ciro Venerato via Tutto Napoli, Arsenal are leading the race to sign 24-year-old Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker has been on fire in the ongoing season. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention of late.

A lot of clubs from across Europe have their eyes set on the 24-year-old but Venerato believes Arsenal have the edge.

Ciro Venerato said, “The Premier League remains, Arsenal favourite, Manchester United-Chelsea duel. High bar for the price tag. The far-sighted De Laurentiis is asking for €150m for his star player.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen joined Napoli back in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. He has gone from strength to strength since arriving at the Italian club. The 24-year-old striker has made 88 appearances for the Naples-based club and has 62 goal contributions to his name.

The Nigeria international has taken his game to the next level in the ongoing season. He has found the back of the net on 21 occasions in his 26 outings. The Napoli forward is leading the race for the Serie A golden boot with 19 goals to his name.

Osimhen has played a big part in helping Napoli stay at the top of the Italian top flight. They are 15 points clear of the team in second and are well on course to win the Serie A.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also been doing great in the English top flight. The Gunners are at the top of the league and are all set to return to the UEFA Champions League next season. Arteta who has done a great job at the Emirates Stadium will look for further reinforcements in the summer.

The Spanish manager is keen on adding another striker to his ranks as they look to take the next step. The 24-year-old is at the top of their transfer targets. Osimhen will surely add a lot of quality to their ranks and their interest in his services is quite understandable.

However, the €150 million price tag might be something that could trouble Arsenal. It will be interesting to see how much the Gunners are willing to spend in the summer. The London club’s biggest signing was Nicolas Pépé for €80 million. And, it won’t be easy for them to spend twice the amount to acquire the Nigerian forward.

Even if they are willing to spend that big an amount, they will have to battle it out with Manchester United. The Red Devils have been interested in Osimhen for a while now. They are in desperate need of a striker ahead of next season with Anthony Martial struggling with injuries and Wout Weghorst set to return to his parent club after the end of the season. Erik ten Hag’s team are willing to go big to acquire the Serie A top scorer.
