Liverpool are interested in signing 25-year-old Serie A defender Nikola Milenkovic ahead of next season.
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have their eyes set on Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic and could push for his signatures in the summer. The Merseyside club have been struggling in the ongoing season. And, Jurgen Klopp will head into the summer transfer market in search of reinforcements. Milenkovic is a part of his transfer target list.
Klopp’s team have had a disappointing campaign so far, they are currently seventh on the points table with 46 points to their name. They have not been at their best and would surely want to bounce back in the next season. As a result, the side will be looking to add a few new names to their ranks.
The midfield has been a major concern for the side. The Merseyside club will try to completely revamp their midfield. Klopp’s men are likely to push for a new central midfielder, a position which has been a big worry for Klopp.
However, he will also look to bolster his defence. The German manager is likely to push for a central defender who can pair up with Virgil van Dijk. Joe Gomez has not had the best possible season. He has been inconsistent of late. As a result, Klopp is forced to look for a new man at the centre of the defence.
Nikola Milenkovic is one of their top targets for the role. The 25-year-old Serbian defender has been a consistent performer for Fiorentina in the Serie A. His performances have put him on the radar of the Merseyside club.
Milenkovic joined the Serie A outfit in 2017 and ever since has been a constant feature for the club. The player has played 198 fixtures and has 18 goal contributions to his name. In the ongoing season of the Italian top flight, he has made 18 appearances and has three goal contributions against the tally.
His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, and thus Fiorentina will have the upper hand in the negotiations. They won’t give up on their star player with that ease. But, are likely to sell if a decent bid is received.
The 25-year-old’s arrival will solve a major problem for Klopp. They will have more solidity and are likely to have a better base to push on from. The Merseyside club will give it their best to secure his signatures. But, it won’t be that easy a task given the fact that other clubs are also interested in him.
