Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in signing Portuguese forward Goncalo Ramos ahead of next.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on bringing the 21-year-old Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos to the club. United have had a wonderful season so far. Erik ten Hag has transformed the club and is expected to add more quality ahead of the next season.
The Dutch manager has done wonders at the club. They are all set to return to the Champions League next season. And, he will look to bring back the old glory days. Manchester United have already won the Carabao Cup in the ongoing season. They are in strong contention for three more titles.
However, the Manchester-based club have identified a few key areas that need reinforcement. They are willing to spend €250 million to bolster their squad. Erik ten Hag wants to sign a proper number nine in the summer. They have identified Goncalo Ramos as a possible candidate.
The 21-year-old has been impressive of late. He came into the limelight after his hattrick in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He started ahead of skipper Cristiano Ronaldo against Switzerland and made it count by netting three goals. His performance at the global event caught quite a few eyeballs.
Ramos has been a part of Benfica since 2013 and has gone through the ranks to make his first team debut. He was promoted to the first team in the winter of 2020. He has gone from strength to strength after his promotion.
The 21-year-old has featured in 32 matches for the Portuguese club in the ongoing season. And, he has 27 goal contributions to his name. It has been an impressive season for the striker. The Portugal international’s contract at the club ends in the summer of 2026. But, he is likely to make a big move in the summer.
Manchester United are keen on having his services. Erik ten Hag’s team are in search of a new striker. Wout Weghorst is set to return to his parent club after his loan move expires. And, Anthony Martial has been struggling with injuries of late. As a result, the Dutch manager is keen on adding a new striker.
They are willing to spend big on Ramos and also eying up moves for Víctor Osimhen and Frenkie de Jong to take the club to the next step. It will be interesting to see if the Manchester-based club can manage to land all three players at Old Trafford.
