Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid talisman Vinicius Junior in the near future.
According to a report by Planeta Madrid, Vinicius Junior is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. But Real Madrid will not entertain any offers from PSG for the talismanic Brazilian winger. And Florentino Perez intends to oversee a project with the player as the centre-piece.
Vinicius Junior was among the most highly-rated Brazilian prospects during his formative years with Flamengo. So it was hardly surprising when Real Madrid launched the offensive to sign him a few years ago. And the 22-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in the world in the last half a decade.
The Brazilian international has become a talismanic figure for Real Madrid and is enjoying a superb 2022/23 season. The youngster has 18 goals and nine assists in 35 appearances thus far this term. And Vinicius’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with PSG among his prospective suitors.
PSG will likely have to plan a new-look offensive unit in the coming years. Neymar, in particular, faces an uncertain future at Parc des Princes, with Les Parisiens ready to sell him. And recent reports have linked the Brazilian international with Chelsea. In addition, Lionel Messi is yet to sign a new contract with PSG.
With the Argentine international’s contract expiring in a few months, Barcelona will hope to re-sign him. Most importantly, Kylian Mbappe’s future is up in the air, with the Frenchman somewhat unsettled at PSG. And if Mbappe leaves PSG, several clubs, including Real Madrid, will likely line up to secure his services.
The French champions are thus in the market for a wide attacker, with players like Alejandro Garnacho, Richarlison, and a few others emerging on their radar. But Vinicius Junior is better than all those players. So it is hardly surprising that the Ligue 1 heavyweights are keen on signing the Real Madrid talisman.
But Los Blancos will not entertain any offers for the 22-year-old. And Florentino Perez wants to build the club’s next project around the Brazilian international. While the Real Madrid president is worried about PSG’s interest, a move is unlikely. And with Vinicius well-settled at the Bernabeu, he is not expected to leave anytime soon.
