Manchester United are interested in signing 27-year-old Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot ahead of next season.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester United are keen on signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The 27-year-old has been in sensational form of late and has attracted a lot of attention in recent times.
Rabiot’s current contract with Juventus expires in the summer. There are no talks of an extension as of now. And, he is likely to be a free agent in four months. Manchester United have identified the opportunity and are likely to push for his signature.
The 27-year-old had a stellar World Cup campaign. He bossed the midfield and did not allow the fans to feel the absence of star players N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba. Rabiot played an integral part in helping France reach the World Cup final which they, unfortunately, lost.
Meanwhile, the French international joined Juventus back in the summer of 2019 from Paris Saint-Germain. He found it difficult to be a regular at the Turin-based club in the initial days. However, he has managed to revive himself and is a regular at this point in time.
Rabiot has made a total of 155 appearances for the team in black and white. And, the French international has a total of 20 goal contributions. In the ongoing season, he has eight goal contributions in his 26 outings.
Juventus are going through a crisis. 15 points have been deducted from their ongoing campaign. And, UEFA Champions League football is no longer guaranteed. They are also under a lot of financial pressure. As a result, Rabiot might prefer moving to greener pastures.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag wants to add a few more players to his midfield. He wants more stability in the center of the park. And, the Dutch manager would love to have the 27-year-old at his disposal.
Signing a central midfielder in the summer is a must for Manchester United. They have been exploring quite a few options. And, Rabiot is a part of their list. If they manage to get their hands on him, it will be a steal given his quality as well as form.
He will slot directly into ten Hag’s system and will allow him to be flexible with formations. The Dutch manager will have the luxury to start with either of the 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations with Rabiot at his disposal.
Meanwhile, with a lot of players set to depart in the summer, signing Rabiot does not look like that big a deal. But, since there is a lot of interest from elsewhere, things might be a bit complicated.
