Manchester United want to prioritise a new contract for 24-goal star Marcus Rashford as he continues to cement his status at Old Trafford.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United want to extend Marcus Rashford’s contract on priority. The 24-goal star’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024, with the club offering to extend it by another season.
Marcus Rashford scored his seventh consecutive goal at Old Trafford in the win over Leicester City, taking his season’s tally to 24 in all competitions. The England international has been sensational since the World Cup, netting 15 times in 17 games.
While he continues to cement his status at Old Trafford, the impending contract extension is troubling those in charge of the club. Manchester United are ready to finalise a new deal for the 24-goal star in the coming time and keep him at the club for the long term.
The 25-year-old suffered a terrible dip in his form last season, scoring only five times in 32 games. Yet, Erik ten Hag was quick to put his faith in the forward since taking charge of the club, and he has repaid the trust in a big way.

In the summer, there were reports of huge interest from PSG in the forward. The French giants remain keen on the forward and are even ready to offer him huge wages to lure him to the club. Rashford may want to remain in England and preferably Manchester United. But a new deal is yet to be agreed upon between the two parties.
Ten Hag is reportedly obsessed over extending the forward’s contract as talks progress between the club and the player. Rashford would certainly want a huge pay rise to commit his future at his boyhood club. But interest from elsewhere could significantly impact his decision.
For instance, Arsenal are already keeping tabs on his situation. While his contract ends in the summer of 2024, Manchester United can extend it by a further season. The Red Devils may not like to come towards a decision to trigger that extension, as they would like Rashford to commit his future here imminently.
“We can’t lose him, of course — we’re working to extend his contract,” Ten Hag said today ahead of the Leicester City game. His growing importance in the team cannot be ignored; hence, Manchester United want to prioritise an extension as soon as possible.
