Manchester United have heavily scouted New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic as they seek new options in the position.

According to Tom Bogert, Manchester United are scouting Djordje Petrovic as they seek a new goalkeeping option in the summer. The 23-year-old Serbian goalkeeper is one of the best-performing stars in the MLS with New England Revolution.

Manchester United continue searching for the correct choice for a new goalkeeper, as Erik ten Hag is open to multiple options to strengthen the role. David de Gea’s long-term future remains in considerable doubt. But the manager wants a complete overhaul between the sticks.

The Red Devils have struggled to keep the role consistent, with ideal deputy Dean Henderson expected to depart in the summer. They also faced a tricky situation with loanee Martin Dubravka, who was recalled midway through his spell by Newcastle United.

Now, ten Hag wants a consistent pairing in the role, with a No.1 and a deputy in place before the start of next season. While Manchester United remain open to offering de Gea a new deal, they are also looking for a good No.1 option for the long term.

Illan Meslier is also under consideration, although Manchester United would like to wait before signing the Frenchman. However, if Leeds United suffer relegation this season, they may have to rush in for the keeper. Otherwise, there’s a risk of him signing up somewhere else.

While they look for a good No.1 option in the English market, Manchester United have been scouting the MLS for another goalkeeper. Djordje Petrovic is a reported target for the Red Devils, with the New England Revolution star one of the league’s top performers.

Manchester United have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old Serbian goalkeeper extensively. Ideally, they may not consider someone from the MLS to come in and become their No.1. Instead, he may be seen as the ideal deputy to de Gea or someone else.

The MLS outfit will likely demand a considerable fee for the 23-year-old Serbian goalkeeper. If Manchester United are convinced by what they saw, they might even make a formal offer in the coming months. From the player’s side, any move will be appreciated as England is considered a huge step forward for any player playing in the USA. But there are no contacts at the moment.
