Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season, with Atletico Madrid interested.

A report from Daily Mirror claims that Atletico Madrid are keen on signing 31-year-old Brazilian international Roberto Firmino in a Bosman move if he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season.

The experienced forward will be out of contract in the summer, and Liverpool have not managed to agree on an extension with him yet. And his contract situation has attracted many top clubs, including Atletico Madrid’s local rivals Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid could lose Joao Felix permanently at the end of the season, and they are looking to sign the Brazilian as a replacement for the 23-year-old. Felix is currently on loan at Chelsea and the Blues could look to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

Liverpool have already signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, and the Dutchman is tipped to replace Firmino in the long run. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are prepared to let the veteran Brazilian leave on a free transfer.

Firmino has been a loyal servant for Liverpool since joining the club from Hoffenheim, and he has helped them win every trophy at the club level. The 31-year-old’s season has been plagued with injuries, but he has been quite impressive whenever called upon. The Liverpool star has nine goals and four assists in all competitions. And he will be hoping to return to action soon and help Liverpool finish the season strongly.

Firmino is undoubtedly a Liverpool legend, and he will have had a successful career at the Merseyside club if he decides to move on in the summer. Liverpool decided to sell Sadio Mane at the start of the season, and Firmino’s departure will further chip away at their famed front three.

Meanwhile, Firmino could be excited to pursue a new challenge. And the opportunity to play in La Liga could be an interesting option for him. Atletico Madrid need attacking reinforcements, and the 31-year-old could be a useful squad player for them. The Brazilian is more than just a goal scorer, and his link-up play will add a new dimension to the Atletico Madrid attack.
