Tottenham keeping tabs on Alex Scott

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on completing a deal to sign Alex Scott from Bristol City at the end of the season.

A report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to get a deal in place before the summer transfer window opens in order to fend off competition from other clubs. Interestingly, Alex Scott has drawn comparisons with a certain Jack Grealish.

Alex Scott is regarded as one of the most promising young midfield talents in the country. And he has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months, including Tottenham.

The 19-year-old has established himself as a key player for Bristol City, and he has been a regular starter for them. The youngster has one goal and five assists to his name across all competitions, and he has certainly proven his quality at a tender age in the Championship.

The youngster has been linked with a move to the Premier League. And it would be a major step up in his career. Joining a club like Tottenham could help accelerate his development, and he will improve immensely while playing alongside top-class players at the London club. Furthermore, a world-class manager like Antonio Conte could have a positive impact on his development.

Scott is versatile enough to play as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a winger. He has played all three positions with reasonable expertise this season and his versatility will add some much-needed tactical flexibility to the Tottenham side and help Conte rotate his squad from time to time.

So it is hardly surprising that the 19-year-old English midfielder has been dubbed the “next Grealish”. Meanwhile, Tottenham desperately need a creative midfielder in the middle of the park, and Scott can be the long-term solution to the Italian’s problems.

Conte has quality midfielders at their disposal. But most of them are defensive in nature, and Spurs need to bring in someone who will add creativity and goals. The 19-year-old Bristol midfielder certainly has the potential to establish himself as a key player in the coming seasons. And it remains to be seen whether the London club can get a deal done.

Tottenham have recently addressed major weaknesses in their squad with the signings of Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma. Bringing in a creative midfielder to add more depth would certainly help them improve further and challenge for trophies next season. The north London club should also look to bring in a quality defender to partner Cristian Romero at the back now.
