Real Madrid will have to cough up €20 million to secure the services of Portuguese midfielder Andre Almeida in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Andre Almeida is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions view the Portuguese midfielder as a successor to Luka Modric. And Los Blancos will need to fork out €20 million to sign him from Valencia.
Andre Almeida spent his formative years with Vitoria SC before rising through the ranks at the club’s academy. The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for Vitoria Guimaraes a few years ago. And after rising in stature in his homeland, he moved to Spain by joining Valencia last summer.
The Portuguese midfielder has taken no time to establish himself as a pivotal figure for Los Che. And Almeida has chipped in with two goals and four assists in 25 appearances thus far for Valencia. And the player’s progress at the Mestalla has captured the attention of a club in La Liga, none other than Real Madrid.
Real Madrid will look to execute the succession plan for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the coming months. The two ageing midfield stalwarts are well into their thirties. And as they approach the end of their glittering careers, Real Madrid will need to identify their successors. Several midfielders have thus emerged on Los Blancos’ radar.
While Jude Bellingham is the priority target for Real Madrid, the Merengues also have a few others on their radar. And they might need to invest in two midfielders in the coming years. Valencia CF midfielder Andre Almeida has thus emerged as a viable candidate for Real Madrid. And the reigning La Liga champions now know Valencia’s asking price.
Los Che will demand €20 million to part ways with the Portuguese midfielder in the summer transfer window. Valencia paid only €8 million to sign the 22-year-old last year. And while Almeida’s market value has escalated to €14 million, recouping €20 million from his sale will deliver a handy profit.
With Valencia in a spot of bother on the financial front, it might not be surprising if they cash in on Almeida. But it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will be open to shelling out €20 million for the Portuguese midfielder.
